Telpochcalli: Academic Counseling Component
What do we do?
The academic peer counseling component offers students various resources to navigate UCLA and help students take ownership of their own academics. Through workshops and academic counseling, this component works to provide students with different knowledge and information to enable students to understand their role within this institution.
Our 11 academic counselors offer students with an array of academic support for students to be able to not only navigate UCLA however they wish, but also to create realistic and relevant goals for themselves as students. Academic counseling sessions range in topics from academic policies, GPA, graduation requirements, student skills such as stress and time management, career exploration, student empowerment & advocacy, research, post-grad and anything else the students wishes to work on.

Hxstory
Telpochcalli means "house of youth" and was hxstorically a school for children. Today within Calmecac, we have come to understand this component as one that provides students with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate a predominantly white institution. Through our workshops and programs, we provide students with information on class-planning, graduating, but also on attending office hours, advocating for oneself in the classroom setting, creating knowledge through research and so forth.
