Coatequitl: Internship

Who are we?

Coatequitl is MEChA Calmecac's Internship Component. As a way to support students at UCLA who are trying to become more involved and learn about their communities and hxstories, as well as find a safe space on campus, MEChA Calmecac offers an internship opportunity to students. This opportunity consists of a weekly Thursday class, with 15-20 other Raza/Latinx students, where students engage in dialogues about empowerment, race, class, gender, and Chicanx issues/struggles/hxstory. In addition, the internship also consists of an actual internship where students are paired with one of the MEChA de UCLA components and support their event programming and planning. During Fall quarter students do not receive units for the internship opportunity, but are strongly encouraged to apply if students are interested in participating again in Winter or Spring Quarter. During Winter and Spring Quarter, students in the internship class receive units through the UCLA Chicana/o/x Studies Department. This is a great opportunity for all students who want to learn more about MEChA de UCLA, student-empowerment, or are interested in engaging in important and critical topics with other students!
